Everyday, someone new asks me “How are you doing with this whole thing?” or they say “You’re so brave”. I’m really not though. Everyday, I wake up hoping that my blood sugar will just be where it’s supposed to.. like this was all a dream. It’s either too high or too low from where my doctor wants it to be. I just can’t get this right.. and it’s really frustrating. I want my eye sight back to where it was. Wearing these reading glasses everyday just so I can slightly make out some shapes is ridiculous. I got my eyes checked and could only see the “E” at the top of the chart. But in a couple weeks, once my blood sugar is regulated, I should be able to see again. I hope by graduation, I can.
It’s really annoying to have to measure out insulin every time I want to eat a meal. And it’s even more annoying when I have to go home because I don’t have it with me.
A lot of people know about diabetes in general but really don’t know much about it. It’s hard for people to understand and it gets old repeating it. I’ve known in the back of my head I’ve had it for a while.. but hearing it and living it are so much different than just thinking it.
